It was in 1893, in an abbey protected by two mountains, that a small group of monks created Oka cheese, one of Quebec's very first fine cheeses. Made from pasteurized cow's milk this wash rind cheese was baptized by the Trappist monks with a special wash that gives Oka its unforgettable taste and unique aroma.
